Frohes Fest!

Liebe Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter,

das Jahr neigt sich dem Ende zu und ich darf diese Gelegenheit nutzen, um Ihnen Danke zu sagen. Danke für Ihre vielen täglichen Beiträge in der Forschung, in der Lehre und in der Administration, mit denen Sie die Universität Graz als lebendigen Ort des Wissens, des Vermittelns und des Gestaltens prägen.

Ein Blick auf das Jahr 2025 zeigt, wie viel wir gemeinsam erreicht haben. In Forschung und Lehre konnten wichtige Impulse gesetzt werden. Neue Projekte wurden gestartet, bestehende Vorhaben weiterentwickelt und Erfolge gefeiert. Die Universität Graz hat sich erneut als Ort des offenen Diskurses, der wissenschaftlichen Exzellenz und der gesellschaftlichen Verantwortung positioniert. Besonders erfreulich ist dabei, wie stark der Austausch über Disziplinen hinweg gelebt wird und wie verantwortungsvoll viele von Ihnen aktuelle Herausforderungen unserer Zeit aufgreifen.

So blicken wir mit Zuversicht auf das neue Jahr.

Wir werden 2026 weiter konsequent an der Positionierung der Universität Graz als relevanten Player in Europa arbeiten und gleichzeitig unseren Fokus auf einen modernen, nachhaltigen und klimafitten Universitätscampus richten. Wenn ab Jänner neue digitale Applikationen ausgerollt werden, schaffen wir nicht nur eine stabile und sichere IT-Umgebung, sondern auch zeitgemäße Arbeits- und Studienbedingungen für kommende Generationen. Dafür danke ich einerseits allen, die diese Projekte umsichtig und mit Weitblick voranbringen, und andererseits Ihnen allen für Ihre Unterstützung und Geduld in der bevorstehenden Umstellungsphase.

Im Namen des gesamten Rektorats wünsche ich Ihnen und Ihren Familien eine erholsame Weihnachtszeit, Momente der Ruhe und des Auftankens sowie einen guten Start in das neue Jahr. Wir freuen uns darauf, auch im kommenden Jahr gemeinsam mit Ihnen neue Impulse für die Universität Graz zu setzen und ihre Zukunft aktiv zu gestalten.

Dear colleagues,

The year is drawing to a close, and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you for your many daily contributions to research, teaching and administration, which shape the University of Graz as a vibrant place of knowledge, communication and creativity.

A look back at the year 2025 shows how much we have achieved together. Important impetus has been provided in research and teaching. New projects have been launched, existing projects further developed and successes celebrated. The University of Graz has once again positioned itself as a place of open discourse, scientific excellence and social responsibility. It is particularly gratifying to see how strongly interdisciplinary exchange is practised and how responsibly many of you are addressing the current challenges of our time.

We therefore look forward to the new year with confidence.

In 2026, we will continue to work consistently on positioning the University of Graz as a relevant player in Europe, while at the same time focusing on a modern, sustainable and climate-friendly university campus. When new digital applications are rolled out in January, we will not only create a stable and secure IT environment, but also modern working and studying conditions for future generations. I would like to thank everyone who is advancing these projects with prudence and foresight, as well as all of you for your support and patience during the upcoming transition phase.

On behalf of the entire Rectorate, I wish you and your families a restful Christmas season, moments of peace and relaxation, and a good start to the new year. We look forward to working with you again in the coming year to give new impetus to the University of Graz and actively shape its future.
