Rechnungsabschluss 2025

Die Universität Graz verzeichnet im Geschäftsjahr 2025 laut jüngst veröffentlichtem Rechnungsabschluss weiterhin eine stabile wirtschaftliche Entwicklung. Bei Umsatzerlösen von insgesamt 358,5 Millionen Euro, davon 296,0 Millionen Euro aus Globalbudgetzuweisungen des Bundes, konnte trotz steigender Personal- und Sachkosten ein positiver Jahresabschluss erzielt werden. Dieser wurde vom Wirtschaftsprüfer uneingeschränkt bestätigt sowie vom Universitätsrat am 27. März 2026 genehmigt. >> mehr erfahren
 

According to the recently published financial statements, the University of Graz continues to show stable financial performance in the 2025 financial year. With total revenue of € 358.5 million, of which € 296.0 million came from federal global budget allocations, a positive annual result was achieved despite rising staff and operating costs. The financial statements were unqualified by the auditor and approved by the University Council on 27 March 2026.

Hochschulen neu denken: uni.talk an der Universität Graz

Das BMFWF hat mit der Hochschulstrategie 2040 einen breiten Diskussionsprozess zur Zukunft der Hochschulen gestartet. Das Diskussionsformat “uni.talk” an der Uni Graz greift das Thema mit einem externen Impuls von Martin Unger (IHS) auf. Das Rektorat lädt Mitarbeitende ein, sich an der strategischen Weiterentwicklung zu beteiligen. Die Veranstaltung findet am 15. April 2026, 15 bis 16:00/16:30 Uhr in der Aula statt. Anmeldungen sind bis 13. April möglich: rektorsbuero@uni-graz.at
 

With its Higher Education Strategy 2040, the BMFWF has launched a wide-ranging discussion process on the future of higher education institutions. The “uni.talk” discussion forum at the University of Graz will address this topic with an external presentation by Martin Unger (IHS). The Rector’s Office invites staff to participate in this strategic development process. The event will take place on 15 April 2026, from 3.00 pm to 4.00/4.30 pm in the Aula. Universitätsrat wählte das Team der Vizerektor:innen

Der Universitätsrat hat am 27. März 2026 die vier, von Rektor Peter Riedler vorgeschlagenen Vizerektor:innen der Universität Graz für die vierjährige Rektoratsperiode ab 1. Oktober 2026 gewählt. Ihre Tätigkeit setzen fort: Catherine Walter-Laager als Vizerektorin für Studium und Lehre, Joachim Reidl als Vizerektor für Forschung und Markus Fallenböck als Vizerektor für Personal und Digitalisierung. Neu im Leitungsteam ist Şebnem Bahadır-Berzig als Vizerektorin für Internationalisierung und Gleichstellung. Bahadır-Berzig, seit 2020 Professorin am Institut für Theoretische und Angewandte Translationswissenschaft, forscht und lehrt zum Schwerpunkt Translation, Migration und Minderheiten. Mireille van Poppel stand auf eigenen Wunsch für keine weitere Rektoratsperiode mehr zur Verfügung. „Mit diesen erfahrenen und international gut vernetzten Vizerektor:innen werden wir die positive Weiterentwicklung der Universität Graz vorantreiben. Unser Dank gilt Mireille van Poppel für ihre wertvolle Arbeit“, betont Rektor Peter Riedler. 

On 27 March 2026, the University Council elected the four Vice Rectors of the University of Graz proposed by Rector Peter Riedler for the four-year term of office beginning on 1 October 2026. The following will continue in their roles: Catherine Walter-Laager as Vice Rector for Studies and Teaching, Joachim Reidl as Vice Rector for Research, and Markus Fallenböck as Vice Rector for Human Resources and Digitalisation. New to the management team is Şebnem Bahadır-Berzig as Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Equal Opportunities. Bahadır-Berzig, a professor at the Department of Translation Studies since 2020, researches and teaches with a focus on translation, migration and minorities. Mireille van Poppel did not stand for re-election for a further term of office at her own request. “With these experienced Vice Rectors, who have strong international networks, we will drive forward the positive development of the University of Graz. We would like to thank Mireille van Poppel for her valuable work,” emphasises Rector Peter Riedler.

Alles an einem Ort: uniYOU und YOUknow gestartet

Mit uniYOU und YOUknow nahmen am 2. April an der Universität Graz zwei neue Plattformen für Mitarbeiter:innen ihren Produktiv-Betrieb auf. Spezielle Anwendungen, Services sowie Informationen sind gebündelt an einem Ort verfügbar, ergänzt durch eine optimierte Suche, mobile Nutzung und datenschutzfreundliche KI-Funktionen für den Arbeitsalltag. Die Systeme lösen ab sofort das “Intranet" ab, das 2013 auf Basis der Sharepoint-Technologie an der Universität eingeführt wurde. >> mehr erfahren
 

On 2 April, two new staff platforms – uniYOU and YOUknow – went live at the University of Graz. Specialised applications, services and information are now available in one centralised location, complemented by an optimised search function, mobile access and privacy-friendly AI features designed to support day-to-day work. The systems now replace the “Intranet”, which was introduced at the University in 2013 based on SharePoint technology. >> Learn more

EARLI-Tagung erhält Congress Award Graz

Die Stadt Graz zeichnete die EARLI-Tagung kürzlich mit dem mit 10.000 Euro dotierten Congress Award Graz aus. Ende August 2025 brachte die Konferenz mehr als 2.500 Teilnehmende aus über 60 Ländern an die Universität Graz. Sie zählte damit zu den größten wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen der Stadt und löste zugleich eine außergewöhnliche wirtschaftliche Wertschöpfung aus. Mit der intensiven Nutzung des Uni-Graz-Campus und ihrer starken Präsenz im Straßenbild machte die Tagung Graz als lebendigen Wissenschaftsstandort sichtbar. >> mehr erfahren
 

The City of Graz recently honoured the EARLI conference with the Congress Award Graz, worth 10,000 euros. Held at the end of August 2025, the conference attracted more than 2,500 participants from over 60 countries to the University of Graz, making it one of the city’s largest academic events and generating significant economic value. Through its extensive use of the University of Graz campus and its prominent presence on the streets, the conference raised Graz’s profile as a vibrant hub for academic research.

Digitalisierung und KI an der Uni Graz

Wie können KI und digitale Tools den Arbeitsalltag an einer Universität erleichtern? Beim Innovation Day im Unicorn erhielten rund 100 Mitarbeiter:innen praxisnahe Einblicke in neue Anwendungen der uniIT wie uniYOU, Microsoft 365 und eduExaminer. In interaktiven Makerspaces konnten sie digitale Innovationen direkt ausprobieren, Fragen stellen und Feedback geben. Impulse von Microsoft Austria und KI-Experte Patrick Ratheiser zeigten zudem, wie das Zusammenspiel von Mensch und Maschine die Zukunft der Universität mitgestalten kann. How can AI and digital tools make day-to-day work at a university easier? At Innovation Day at Unicorn, around 100 staff members gained practical insights into new uniIT applications such as uniYOU, Microsoft 365 and eduExaminer. In interactive makerspaces, they were able to try out digital innovations first-hand, ask questions and provide feedback. Presentations by Microsoft Austria and AI expert Patrick Ratheiser also demonstrated how the interaction between humans and machines can help shape the future of the university. Vice-Rector Markus Fallenböck spoke about the vision behind an increasingly digital University of Graz.
