Gleich drei ERC Starting Grants für innovative Forschungsvorhaben gehen an Wissenschaftler:innen der Universität Graz. Die Projekte von David Clases, Georg Krainer und Jana Lasser umfassen die Untersuchung von Nanopartikeln in Eisbohrkernen, die Erforschung von “Schaltkreisen“ unserer Zellen und die Entwicklung demokratischer Algorithmen für soziale Medien. Three ERC Starting Grants for innovative research projects have been awarded to researchers of the University of Graz. David Clases's, Georg Krainer's and Jana Lasser's projects include the investigation of nanoparticles in ice cores, research into the ‘circuits’ of our cells and the development of democratic algorithms for social media. Otto Petrovic, Christine Malin und Johannes Zeiringer vom Institut für Operations und Information Systems haben beim „Ars Docendi – Staatspreis für exzellente Lehre an Österreichs öffentlichen Universitäten, Fachhochschulen, Privatuniversitäten und Pädagogischen Hochschulen“ einen Anerkennungspreis für ihre Lehrveranstaltung „Wirtschaftsinformatik“ erhalten. >> mehr erfahren
Otto Petrovic, Christine Malin and Johannes Zeiringer from the Institute of Operations and Information Systems received a recognition award for their course ‘Wirtschaftsinformatik’ at the ‘Ars Docendi - State Prize for Excellent Teaching at Austria's Public Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences, Private Universities and Universities of Teacher Education’.

Der Campus der Uni Graz wird noch attraktiver und klimafreundlicher. Die Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft saniert das 125 Jahre alte, denkmalgeschützte Gebäude Universitätsplatz 4 von Grund auf. Wo früher medizinische Institute beheimatet waren, werden 2027 die Bildungswissenschaften der Uni Graz einziehen. Am 12. September 2024 gaben Generalsekretär Martin Netzer in Vertretung von Wissenschaftsminister Martin Polaschek, Landesrätin Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, Richard Schöberl von der BIG und Rektor Peter Riedler den offiziellen Startschuss für Sanierung und Umbau. Die BIG und die Uni Graz bauen für die Zukunft und danken für das Verständnis, sollten die Arbeiten auf der Baustelle zu erhöhtem Lärm- und Verkehrsaufkommen führen. >> mehr erfahren
The campus of the University of Graz is becoming even more attractive and climate-friendly. The Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) is completely renovating the 125-year-old listed building at Universitätsplatz 4. In 2027, the University of Graz's educational sciences will move in where medical departments used to be located. On 12 September 2024, Secretary General Martin Netzer, representing Minister Martin Polaschek, Provincial Councillor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, Richard Schöberl from BIG and Rector Peter Riedler gave the official go-ahead for the renovation and conversion.

Rund 1600 Bachelorarbeiten werden pro Jahr an der Universität Graz verfasst. Und das mit recht unterschiedlichem Aufwand und unterschiedlichen Anforderungen. Eine neue Orientierungshilfe unterstützt Lehrende dabei, die Rahmenbedingungen für das Schreiben von Abschlussarbeiten zu optimieren. Klare Richtlinien und Empfehlungen sollen sicherstellen, dass Studierende die bestmögliche Unterstützung erhalten und Fakultäten sowie Institute ihre Ressourcen effektiv einsetzen. >> mehr erfahren
Around 1600 Bachelor's theses are written at the University of Graz every year. The effort involved and the requirements vary greatly. A new guide helps lecturers to optimise the framework conditions for writing theses. Clear guidelines and recommendations are intended to ensure that students receive the best possible support and that faculties and institutes utilise their resources effectively.

Das Fahrrad ist und bleibt das Verkehrsmittel der Wahl, um schnell und nachhaltig an den Campus zu kommen. Sollte das Bike jedoch mal streiken, hat die Uni Graz die Lösung: Im Untergeschoß des Bauteil A – der Zugang befindet sich zwischen den E-Ladestationen am Parkplatz – hat die Grazer Firma "Bicycle" eine Filiale eröffnet. Ab sofort können Fahrräder montags und dienstags zwischen 9 und 15 Uhr zur Reparatur oder zum Service gebracht werden. >> mehr erfahren
The bicycle remains the best means of transport to get to campus quickly and sustainably. However, if your bike goes on strike, the University of Graz has the solution: In the basement of Building A - the entrance is located between the e-charging stations at the car park - the Graz-based company ‘Bicycle’ has opened a branch. Bicycles can now be brought in for repair or servicing on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9am and 3pm. >> learn more

Treffpunkt Gastrozone
Wie die Uni Graz überraschend erfahren hat, wird die Mensa am Standort Sonnenfelsplatz am 1. Oktober ihre Pforten schließen. Rektor Peter Riedler betont, dass der Campus für Uni-Bedienstete und Studierende auch durch gastronomische Angebote attraktiv bleiben müsse, die Mensa am symbolträchtigen Sonnenfelsplatz eine wichtige Rolle spiele und die Uni sich für eine gute Lösung einbringen werde. Rechtzeitig zum Semesterstart am 1. Oktober öffnen aber neue Lokale am Campus, darunter das vegane "Café Erde" im RESOWI-Zentrum sowie "The Underground Kitchen", die das Milchstandl ablöst und vor dem RESOWI-Gebäude ihren Standort hat.
The University of Graz has been surprised to learn that the canteen on Sonnenfelsplatz will close its doors on 1 October. Rector Peter Riedler emphasises that the campus must remain attractive for university staff and students through gastronomic offerings, that the canteen on the symbolic Sonnenfelsplatz plays an important role and that the university will work to find a good solution. New eateries are also opening on campus in time for the start of the semester on 1 October, including the vegan "Café Erde" in the RESOWI centre and "The Underground Kitchen", which replaces the Milchstandl and is located in front of the RESOWI building.
